Music Teacher Role in an Independent School
An Independent School in Essex is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Music Teacher to join its thriving Performing Arts department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will deliver Music across KS3, KS4, and KS5, providing engaging lessons that develop students' understanding of musical theory, composition, performance, and analysis.
You will encourage students to explore a broad range of musical genres and traditions while developing their technical and creative skills. The successful teacher will also contribute to the department's extracurricular programme, supporting concerts, ensembles, rehearsals, and other performances throughout the academic year.
This role would suit an experienced Music Teacher or an enthusiastic ECT looking to join a well-established and supportive department.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Music across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Plan and deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Develop students' performance, composition, and listening skills
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental initiatives
Support choirs, ensembles, concerts, and school performances
Encourage students to participate in wider musical opportunities
Maintain a positive and inspiring classroom environment

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Music at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and composition
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
A genuine passion for inspiring young musicians
Desirable
Ability to teach Music at KS5
Experience delivering GCSE and A-Level Music
Strong instrumental or vocal performance skills
Experience leading ensembles, choirs, concerts, or performances
Knowledge of music technology and digital composition
