A successful school needs strong leadership behind the scenes. An Outstanding secondary school in Watford is looking for an experienced School Business Manager to take responsibility for its key operational and financial functions from September 2026.
This is a senior opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership. Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you'll help ensure the school's finances, people, premises and business operations are managed effectively and continue to support the school's long-term ambitions.
Your Impact
The School Business Manager will have a broad remit across the school's business operations, including:
Leading financial planning, budgeting and monitoring
Overseeing procurement, contracts and supplier relationships
Managing HR, payroll and recruitment processes
Supporting premises, estates and health & safety management
Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory and financial requirements
Providing management information and financial reports to senior leaders
Supporting strategic planning and school improvement projects
Leading and developing the school's business support functions

The school is seeking an experienced School Business Manager, Operations Manager, Finance Manager or senior business professional with strong commercial awareness and excellent organisational skills.
You'll need to be confident managing budgets, leading people and advising senior colleagues, while being comfortable balancing strategic priorities with the practical demands of a busy school environment. Previous education experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
Salary & Benefits
£52,000 – £65,000 per annum
