Religious Education Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Religious Education across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that encourage students to explore religious beliefs, philosophy, ethics, and contemporary moral issues.
You will inspire students to think critically, appreciate diverse perspectives, and engage in respectful discussion while developing their analytical and communication skills. The department offers a rich curriculum supported by enrichment opportunities such as philosophy clubs, debates, guest speakers, and educational visits.

Key Responsibilities
Teach Religious Education across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and challenging lessons that promote critical thinking
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment activities including debating, philosophy clubs, and educational visits
Create an inclusive classroom where all beliefs and viewpoints are respected
Encourage curiosity, empathy, and independent thinking

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Religious Education at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Religious Education, Philosophy, and Ethics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Ability to teach Religious Education at KS5
Experience delivering strong GCSE and A-Level outcomes
Commitment to enrichment activities and wider school life
A passion for inspiring students through Religious Education and philosophical enquiry
