Religious Education Teacher Role in a Faith Secondary School
A Faith Secondary School in Derby is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and reflective Religious Education Teacher to join its successful Humanities department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Religious Education across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that encourage thoughtful discussion, critical thinking, and an appreciation of diverse religious and philosophical perspectives.
Students study a broad curriculum covering major world religions, ethics, philosophy, and contemporary social issues. The successful teacher will create a classroom environment where respectful debate and intellectual curiosity are encouraged, helping students develop empathy, analytical skills, and cultural awareness.

Key Responsibilities
Teach Religious Education across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations
Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment activities including debates, guest speakers, and educational visits
Foster an inclusive classroom where all viewpoints are respected
Inspire students to become reflective, informed, and responsible citizens

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Religious Education at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Religious Education and Philosophy
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Ability to teach Religious Education at KS5
Experience delivering successful GCSE and A-Level outcomes
Commitment to enrichment activities and wider school life
A passion for promoting inclusion, respect, and critical thinking
