CORE PURPOSE

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative Art Teacher to deliver inspiring, practical art and design lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential Key Stage 5 opportunities). Working closely with the Head of Art and creative arts team, the successful candidate will foster creativity, nurture artistic talent, and drive academic progress in fine art, illustration, and visual media.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

• Curriculum Delivery & Planning: Design and deliver high-quality, engaging art schemes of work across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, covering fine art, sculpture, textiles, and digital design.

• Studio Management & Safety: Safely manage art studio spaces, materials, and equipment, maintaining strict health and safety standards across all practical activities.

• Portfolio Development & GCSE Prep: Guide students through GCSE Art & Design coursework and exam portfolios, offering constructive feedback and refining technical skills across multiple mediums.

• Exhibitions & Extracurriculars: Organize student art exhibitions, lead after-school art clubs, and encourage participation in local and national creative competitions.

• Pastoral & Departmental Duties: Serve as a dedicated form tutor, contributing actively to the school’s pastoral care system and supporting whole-school creative initiatives.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

• Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a relevant degree in Fine Art, Visual Arts, Design, or a related discipline. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators are equally encouraged to apply.

• Experience: Proven experience teaching Art & Design at secondary level (KS3/KS4) within a UK mainstream school, with a strong portfolio of student outcomes.

• Skills: Strong technical art skills across diverse media, excellent classroom management, proficiency in digital art software, and the ability to inspire creative confidence in all learners.
