A Successful Secondary School in Nottingham is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead its Human Resources function. About the Role
The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of Human Resources across the school, providing strategic and operational support to the Headteacher, School Business Manager, and Senior Leadership Team.
You will lead recruitment and retention initiatives, manage employee relations matters, oversee safer recruitment processes, maintain HR systems and personnel records, advise on employment legislation, and support performance management, staff wellbeing, and organisational development.
This is a varied leadership position suited to an experienced HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, improving processes, and contributing to the long-term success of a busy school.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the school's HR function and provide expert advice to senior leaders
Manage recruitment, onboarding, and safer recruitment procedures
Oversee employee relations, performance management, and absence management
Maintain accurate HR records and ensure GDPR compliance
Develop and review HR policies in line with current legislation
Coordinate staff training, induction, and professional development records
Support workforce planning and organisational development initiatives
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, employment law, and school policies

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in an HR Manager or senior HR advisory role
Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
Experience managing recruitment and employee relations
Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information professionally
Desirable
CIPD Level 5 qualification or above
Experience working within a school, academy trust, or educational environment
Knowledge of safer recruitment and safeguarding procedures
Experience using HR information systems and school management software
