School Receptionist | Join a Welcoming Primary School | Reading
A friendly and well-established primary school in Reading is looking to appoint a School Receptionist to join its support staff team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.
As the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors, the School Receptionist plays an important role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. The successful candidate will become a key member of the school's administration team, helping to ensure the day-to-day running of the front office is efficient, organised and supportive.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or receptionist who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy, rewarding environment.
The Role
Working closely with the School Business Manager and wider administration team, the successful candidate will provide an efficient front-of-house service while supporting a range of administrative functions.
Responsibilities will include:
Welcoming visitors, parents and contractors to the school
Managing incoming telephone calls, emails and general enquiries
Maintaining visitor records and safeguarding procedures
Supporting pupil admissions and maintaining accurate records
Assisting with general administration, filing and correspondence
Updating the school's management information system (MIS)
Ordering office supplies and supporting the smooth running of the reception area
Providing administrative support to senior leaders when required

The Successful Candidate
The school is seeking a friendly, organised and professional individual with previous experience in a receptionist, customer service or administrative role.
Excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability and confidence using Microsoft Office are essential. Previous experience working within a school or knowledge of school MIS systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
