A group of well-regarded schools in Wiltshire is looking to appoint a School Caretaker to join its Estates team on a full-time, permanent basis. Working across multiple sites, you'll play a vital role in ensuring schools remain safe, welcoming, and well maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or property services who enjoys variety and wants to make a visible impact every day.
The Role
Working alongside the Estates Lead and school teams, you'll support the smooth running of school sites through planned maintenance, repairs, and compliance activities.
Responsibilities include:
Carrying out general maintenance and repair work
Completing basic plumbing, decorating, and DIY tasks
Responding quickly to reactive maintenance issues
Opening, securing, and monitoring school buildings
Completing routine health and safety inspections
Working alongside external contractors on planned works
Supporting compliance and estates improvement projects
Providing cover across other schools when required

The Successful Candidate
Applications are welcomed from experienced Caretakers, Site Managers, Facilities Assistants, Maintenance Operatives, Building Caretakers, or candidates with transferable maintenance experience.
You'll be practical, reliable, organised, and confident working independently while also enjoying being part of a collaborative team.
Previous school experience is beneficial but certainly not essential.
Salary & Benefits
£25,989–£26,824 per annum
Full-time, permanent
Monday-Friday (8:00am-4:00pm)
