Receptionist | Vibrant & Values-Driven Primary Academy | Slough
CORE PURPOSE
We are seeking a welcoming, highly organized Receptionist to serve as the main ambassador and first point of contact for our school community. Operating at the heart of our front-of-house operations, the successful candidate will manage visitor reception, direct the central switchboard, handle daily administrative inquiries, coordinate pupil movement records, and deliver high-quality administrative support to the wider office team.

The front office functions as a seamless operational engine where administrative staff collaborate closely with pastoral lead teachers and safeguarding leads. Utilizing modern biometric visitor logging systems and modern cloud-based management software, the desk team ensures robust safeguarding while keeping daily parent communication effortless and positive.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Front-of-House & Safeguarding: Greet parents, contractors, and external agencies warmly, conducting rigorous identity checks, managing visitor badges, and ensuring strict adherence to child protection guidelines.
Switchboard & Communication: Manage high-volume incoming telephone traffic and general email channels, triaging queries efficiently and delivering clear, professional messages to teaching and leadership teams.
Pupil & Parent Administration: Oversee morning registration updates, record late arrivals and early collections, process meal selections, and assist families with online payment platforms and transport logistics.
Mail & Logistics Management: Receive, log, and distribute all school deliveries, official mail, and instructional supplies across departments.
General Office Support: Assist executive administrators with reprographics, parent newsletters, filing student records, and maintaining a welcoming, organized reception environment.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Mathematics). First Aid at Work or Paediatric First Aid certification is highly desirable.
Experience: Proven track record in a busy front-of-house reception, customer relations, or administrative role—ideally within an educational, healthcare, or public-facing organization.
Skills: Exceptionally warm interpersonal skills, clear verbal communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and an ability to manage multiple priority tasks with composure.
