Our client is seeking an articulate, commercially astute, and highly organised School Business Manager (SBM) to lead the non-teaching operational strategy of their vibrant primary school from September. Working in close partnership with the Headteacher and Governing Body, you will take direct responsibility for ensuring the school’s financial sustainability, statutory compliance, and administrative efficiency.
Key responsibilities will include constructing and managing the school’s multi-million-pound budget, delivering robust financial reporting to governors, overseeing procurement and contract tendering, and maximizing income generation through grant applications and facility lettings. You will also line-manage the office, premises, and catering teams, direct health & safety and site compliance, and ensure flawless HR practices—including payroll verification, staff welfare management, and maintaining an immaculate Single Central Record (SCR).

Experience and Qualifications
Level 4/6 Diploma in School Business Management (DSBM/CSBM), Level 7 SBM qualification, or a relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
Proven track record of successful financial leadership, budget control, and operational management within a UK primary school, academy, or educational provision
Comprehensive working knowledge of school finance systems (e.g., SIMS FMS, RM Finance, Access Education), educational HR procedures, KCSIE safeguarding guidelines, and health & safety legislation
Outstanding leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, with the strategic vision to drive continuous operational improvement
