Senior Administration Officer | Ambitious Secondary School | Islington
CORE PURPOSE
We require an organized, proactive Senior Administration Officer to lead and coordinate essential administrative operations across the school. Operating within an ambitious and inclusive environment, the successful candidate will manage key administrative processes, maintain accurate management information systems (MIS), oversee daily communications, and provide high-level administrative support to senior leadership and school staff.
THE SCHOOL
An 11–16 secondary school located in Islington, Central/North London. The school operates with centralized administrative and operational systems managed in close alignment with senior leadership to maintain structured, highly efficient workflows. The administration team works collaboratively, using modern digital communication platforms and database tools to keep staff workloads manageable. Clear operational protocols are established to ensure reprographics, student data entry, and parent communications are handled seamlessly.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Administrative Coordination: Oversee daily office operations, delegate administrative tasks, and ensure reception and secretarial support run effectively.
MIS & Data Management: Maintain and update student records on the school MIS (e.g., SIMS or Arbor), ensuring data integrity, attendance reporting, and support with statutory returns.
Stakeholder Communication: Manage external and internal communications, handling confidential correspondence, multi-channel parent notifications, and senior leadership briefings.
Event & Operations Support: Coordinate the administrative planning and logistics for key school events, open evenings, parents' evenings, and school photo sessions.
Financial & Compliance Admin: Assist with purchase orders, invoice processing, and ensuring all administrative routines adhere to GDPR and safeguarding standard operating procedures.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Mathematics). A relevant qualification in business administration or senior office practice is desirable.
Experience: Proven administrative experience in a senior administrative or office leadership role, ideally within a school, educational setting, or busy public sector organization.
Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, clear interpersonal communication skills, and high proficiency in ICT and school database software.
