About the Role
Wayman Education is currently recruiting a dedicated and proactive School Safeguarding Officer to join a supportive and vibrant secondary school in Cheshire.
In this vital pastoral role, you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Senior Leadership Team, and external agencies to ensure the highest standards of child protection and student welfare across the school. You will be the key point of contact for day-to-day safeguarding concerns, providing early help intervention and creating a safe, nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Receive, triage, and record daily safeguarding and child protection concerns from staff, pupils, and parents using CPOMS.
Multi-Agency Liaison: Coordinate and attend multi-agency meetings, child protection conferences, and core group panels with local authority social care and health professionals.
Early Help & Intervention: Conduct early help assessments, design tailored support plans for vulnerable students, and monitor intervention outcomes.
Support & Advice: Provide confidential advice, guidance, and support to pupils and their families experiencing pastoral or social difficulties.
Compliance & Records: Ensure all safeguarding documentation, policies, and records are maintained with strict accuracy and in full compliance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines.
Requirements
Experience: Proven experience working in a safeguarding, child protection, or senior pastoral role within a UK school setting.
Regulatory Knowledge: Up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of statutory safeguarding frameworks, KCSIE, and multi-agency referral processes.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience using CPOMS (or equivalent school safeguarding software).
Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, active listening, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
Vetting: An Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
