A thriving Secondary School in Birmingham is looking to appoint a creative and organised Art Technician to support its successful Art department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working within a creative environment and wants to play a key role in helping students develop their artistic skills through practical learning.
Working alongside the Head of Art and teaching staff, you will prepare specialist materials, maintain equipment and ensure practical lessons are delivered efficiently and safely. You will contribute to an inspiring learning environment where students are encouraged to experiment with a wide variety of artistic techniques and media.

The Art Department is a vibrant and successful faculty where students are encouraged to develop technical ability, creativity and confidence through practical learning.
Responsibilities
Preparing materials and equipment for practical Art lessons.
Organising and maintaining Art studios.
Monitoring stock levels and ordering resources.
Preparing specialist equipment for demonstrations.
Supporting teachers during practical activities.
Displaying students' artwork around the school.
Preparing materials for GCSE coursework.
Supporting exhibitions and school events.
Maintaining departmental inventories.
Cleaning and maintaining specialist equipment.
Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed.
Preparing paints, clay and printing materials.
Supporting lunchtime and after-school Art clubs.
Keeping storage areas organised and fully stocked.
Assisting with departmental administration where required.
Requirements
Previous Art Technician or creative workshop experience is desirable.
Good practical artistic skills.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of health and safety within practical classrooms.
Ability to prioritise workload.
Positive and proactive attitude.
Commitment to safeguarding.
Ability to work collaboratively within a busy department.
