Site Manager | Growing Primary School | Chelmsford
A thriving primary school in Chelmsford is looking to appoint a Site Manager to join the team from September 2026.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for an experienced premises professional who enjoys taking ownership of a busy school site. Working alongside the School Business Manager and leadership team, you'll help ensure the school remains a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
The Role
The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the school premises, ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard and fully compliant with health and safety requirements.
Responsibilities include:
Managing the day-to-day operation of the school site
Carrying out planned maintenance and minor repairs
Coordinating contractors and monitoring completed works
Ensuring health and safety checks are completed and recorded
Opening and securing the school buildings
Supervising cleaning and premises staff where required
Monitoring site security and responding to maintenance requests
Supporting school events and lettings outside normal school hours when needed

The Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Site Manager, Premises Manager, Facilities Manager, Estates Supervisor, or Senior Caretaker.
The school is looking for someone with strong organisational skills, a practical approach to maintenance, and a good understanding of health and safety responsibilities. The ability to prioritise workloads and build positive relationships with staff and contractors is essential.

Salary & Benefits
£37,000–£44,000 per annum (depending on experience)
