CORE PURPOSE
We require a Science Teacher to deliver the Science curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The role involves planning and delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, while fully preparing exam cohorts for GCSE Combined Science and Separate Science specifications.
THE SCHOOL
An 11–16 secondary school located in Coventry, West Midlands. The school operates with a centralized behaviour system managed by the senior leadership team to maintain quiet, focused classrooms. The Science department is highly collaborative, sharing all schemes of work, practical lab schedules, and resources to manage staff workload. A realistic feedback policy is in place to minimize out-of-hours marking.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Lesson Delivery: Plan and teach core and practical science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 for all ability levels.
Scientific Literacy: Teach essential scientific methods, practical enquiry, and data analysis to build student accuracy in written work and lab investigations.
GCSE Preparation: Prepare Year 11 classes for GCSE Science examinations, tracking progress and addressing learning gaps across all disciplines.
Differentiated Support: Adapt resources and provide structured scaffolding to ensure accessibility for SEND pupils while challenging higher attainers.
Form Tutor Duties: Take responsibility for a tutor group, managing registration, daily routines, and parent contact.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.
Experience: Open to both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a track record of stable progress metrics.
Skills: Clear communication, strong classroom management, and an approachable manner.
