A well-established Secondary School in Oxford is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join its successful Science department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical laboratory experience who enjoys supporting engaging science lessons and helping students develop their scientific knowledge through hands-on practical work.
Working alongside the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will ensure laboratories are fully prepared for practical lessons while maintaining high standards of health and safety. You will play an important role in supporting Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons across the school and ensuring students benefit from well-organised practical learning experiences.

The Science Department delivers an engaging curriculum across Biology, Chemistry and Physics while placing practical investigation at the centre of students' learning.
Responsibilities
Preparing equipment and materials for Science lessons.
Setting up practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Preparing chemical solutions safely and accurately.
Maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Monitoring and ordering departmental stock.
Ensuring laboratories comply with health and safety regulations.
Supporting teachers during practical activities.
Maintaining chemical inventories and COSHH records.
Safely disposing of laboratory waste.
Preparing resources for GCSE practical lessons.
Supporting STEM events and enrichment activities.
Keeping laboratories clean and organised.
Carrying out equipment checks and maintenance.
Assisting with departmental administration.
Supporting continuous improvement across the Science department.
Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience is desirable.
Knowledge of laboratory health and safety.
Strong organisational skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good practical ability.
Strong communication skills.
Good IT skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Commitment to safeguarding.
