About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to become confident readers, writers, and critical thinkers.

Students study a broad curriculum including Shakespeare, modern and classic literature, poetry, drama, creative writing, and language analysis. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while encouraging intellectual curiosity and independent thought.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through literacy initiatives, book clubs, debating, theatre visits, creative writing workshops, and enrichment activities.

Key Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching English at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or Language

• Experience leading literacy initiatives or enrichment activities

• Ability to contribute to debating or creative writing programmes

• A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
