A well-established Secondary School in Nottingham is looking to appoint a dependable and enthusiastic Caretaker to join its experienced premises team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and welcoming environment while supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy secondary school.

Working alongside the Premises Manager and School Business Manager, you will help ensure the school's buildings and grounds are maintained to an excellent standard. This varied role would suit someone with practical maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving and working as part of a supportive team.

Site Team

The Site Team is responsible for ensuring the school remains safe, secure and fully operational throughout the year.

Responsibilities

• Opening and locking the school site.

• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs.

• Completing daily site inspections.

• Maintaining classrooms, corridors and communal areas.

• Monitoring heating, lighting and security systems.

• Supporting contractors while on site.

• Preparing rooms for examinations and school events.

• Maintaining external grounds and pathways.

• Assisting with deliveries and furniture movement.

• Monitoring fire safety equipment.

• Supporting health and safety compliance.

• Maintaining maintenance records.

• Reporting larger repairs promptly.

• Responding to maintenance requests across the school.

• Ensuring the site remains clean, safe and welcoming.

Requirements

• Previous caretaking or maintenance experience is desirable.

• Good practical maintenance skills.

• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.

• Excellent organisational skills.
