About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that develop students' reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Students study a broad and ambitious curriculum encompassing Shakespeare, classic and contemporary literature, poetry, drama, creative writing, and language analysis. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while fostering confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through book clubs, creative writing workshops, theatre visits, debating societies, and enrichment opportunities that inspire students beyond the classroom.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching English at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level English Literature and/or Language

• Experience leading literacy initiatives or enrichment activities

• Ability to contribute to debating, drama, or creative writing programmes

• A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
