Structured Problem-Solving & Fluency: Train pupils to a high technical standard in decoding complex multi-step word problems, establishing mathematical fluency, and constructing clear, logical proofs in preparation for rigorous terminal exams.
GCSE Performance Optimization: Guide Year 11 examination cohorts meticulously through the demands of both Foundation and Higher-tier GCSE Mathematics specifications, utilizing precise diagnostic data tracking to address individual learning gaps and secure strong progress.
Targeted Numeracy Intervention: Identify and target learning barriers within mixed-ability cohorts, deploying explicit scaffolded steps, mathematical vocabulary instruction, and targeted low-stakes retrieval practice to ensure accessibility for SEND and lower-attaining pupils while stretching high-prior-attaining mathematicians.
Inclusive Pastoral Support: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, supporting pupil wellbeing, managing daily registration routines, and maintaining proactive, positive communication with local families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics and exceptional performance outcomes in terminal public GCSE specifications through highly structured, systematic, and explicit mathematics pedagogy.
Articulate & Supportive Ethos: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education within a diverse setting, possessing the exceptional communication skills, empathy, and mathematical passion required to challenge high-attaining pupils while building mathematical confidence in pupils of all backgrounds.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
A Global City Driving the Next Industrial Revolution: Based in the UK's dynamic second city, the school capitalizes on an exceptional Birmingham identity defined by its historic "city of a thousand trades" heritage, world-class cultural institutions, and rapidly expanding digital and engineering sectors. Providing a fantastic, real-world context for applying quantitative skills, statistical analysis, and engineering principles, Birmingham blends a busy, culturally diverse metropolitan center with close-knit, supportive residential neighborhoods. This unique setting connects classroom mathematics directly to regional Silicon Canal tech hubs, local engineering enterprises, and pioneering smart-city partnerships across the West Midlands.
Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from premium West Midlands transport infrastructure, offering straightforward road commuting via the strategic M5, M6, and A38(M) Astons Expressway corridors. Public transit networks operate continuously via comprehensive National Express West Midlands bus and West Midlands Metro tram routes, while Birmingham New Street and Moor Street stations serve as major national transit hubs, linking the school effortlessly to local suburbs, Coventry, Wolverhampton, and London Euston.
