CORE PURPOSE
We require an inspiring, highly articulate French Teacher to deliver outstanding modern foreign language instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with potential opportunities to contribute to advanced literature and cultural studies at post-16. KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Immersive & Communicative Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-impact French lessons across all attainment pathways, conducting lessons with high target-language exposure to build organic listening and speaking skills.
Grammar & Phonology Scaffolding: Train pupils to a high technical standard in decoding complex grammatical structures, verb conjugations, and phonetic patterns, ensuring they can manipulate the language independently and write with high grammatical accuracy.
GCSE Performance Optimization: Guide Year 11 examination cohorts meticulously through the demands of all four skills papers (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) for GCSE French, utilizing diagnostic data tracking to address individual learning gaps.
Removing Barriers to Language Acquisition: Identify and target learning barriers within mixed-ability cohorts, deploying explicit dual-coding, vocabulary scaffolding, and phonics instruction to ensure the curriculum is highly accessible for SEND and lower-attaining pupils while stretching bilingual and high-prior-attaining linguists.
Inclusive Pastoral Support: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, supporting pupil wellbeing, managing daily registration routines, and maintaining proactive, positive communication with local families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in French, Modern Foreign Languages, or a closely related linguistic discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics and exceptional performance outcomes in terminal public GCSE French specifications through highly structured, communicative, and systematic MFL pedagogy.
