A successful Secondary School in Milton Keynes is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join its thriving Science department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with practical laboratory experience who enjoys supporting engaging science lessons and ensuring students benefit from high-quality practical learning.
Working alongside the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare practical equipment, maintain laboratories and ensure all practical activities are carried out safely and efficiently. Your contribution will be essential in helping students develop scientific knowledge through hands-on investigation across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The Science Department delivers an engaging curriculum across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, placing practical investigation at the centre of students' learning.
Responsibilities
Preparing equipment for practical Science lessons.
Setting up Biology, Chemistry and Physics experiments.
Preparing chemical solutions safely and accurately.
Maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Monitoring and ordering departmental stock.
Ensuring laboratories comply with health and safety regulations.
Supporting teachers during practical activities.
Maintaining chemical inventories and COSHH records.
Safely disposing of laboratory waste.
Preparing resources for GCSE and A-Level practical work.
Supporting STEM events and enrichment activities.
Keeping laboratories clean, organised and fully equipped.
Assisting with annual equipment audits.
Maintaining preparation rooms and storage areas.
Supporting the continuous development of practical science provision.
Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience is desirable.
Knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
Strong organisational skills.
Excellent practical ability.
High attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Good IT skills.
