About the Role

Wayman Education is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and proactive Science Technician to join an outstanding Science Department at a fantastic secondary school in Hillingdon, starting in September 2026.

This is a key operational role supporting the delivery of a vibrant science curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (A-Level). Working alongside a supportive team of teachers and fellow technicians, you will ensure that practical lessons are safe, seamless, and engaging for students.

Key Responsibilities

• Practical Preparation: Prepare chemical solutions, apparatus, equipment, and biological specimens for daily chemistry, physics, and biology practical lessons.

• Lab Health & Safety: Maintain strict CLEAPSS, COSHH, and Health & Safety guidelines across all laboratories and prep rooms.

• Inventory & Stock Control: Monitor chemical stock levels, manage equipment inventories, report breakages, and assist with order requisitions.

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and safety checks on lab equipment (microscopes, Bunsen burners, glassware).

• Classroom Support: Assist teaching staff during practical demonstrations and A-Level required practicals when necessary.

Candidate Requirements

• Education: A qualification in Science (A-Level, Higher Education, or Degree) or relevant technical certification.

• Experience: Previous experience working as a Science Technician in a school or academic laboratory environment is highly desirable.

• Compliance: Thorough knowledge of CLEAPSS, COSHH regulations, and lab safety protocols.

• Key Skills: Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Safeguarding: Must hold (or be willing to process) an Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service.
