About the Role

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to become thoughtful readers, confident writers, and effective communicators.

Students study a rich curriculum including Shakespeare, classic and contemporary literature, poetry, drama, creative writing, and language analysis. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English Literature and English Language examinations while fostering critical thinking and intellectual curiosity.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through literacy initiatives, book clubs, theatre visits, creative writing competitions, and enrichment opportunities that encourage students to develop a lifelong appreciation of English.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching English at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in English Literature and Language

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level English

• Experience leading literacy or reading initiatives

• Ability to contribute to creative writing or debating programmes

• A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
