Art Teacher Role in a Vibrant Coastal School

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Art across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to experiment, develop technical skills, and express their creativity.

Students explore a wide range of artistic disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, mixed media, and digital art. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations while encouraging independent thinking and the development of personal artistic styles.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through exhibitions, art clubs, competitions, workshops, and enrichment activities that showcase students' work and celebrate creativity.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Art across KS3, KS4, and KS5

• Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Art examinations

• Develop students' creative, technical, and evaluative skills

• Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback

• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

• Support exhibitions, enrichment activities, and extracurricular clubs

• Inspire creativity and a lifelong appreciation of the visual arts

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Experience teaching Art at secondary level

• Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

• Strong subject knowledge across a range of artistic disciplines

• Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching A-Level Art

• Experience with photography, digital art, or printmaking

• Experience organising exhibitions or creative enrichment activities

• A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
