A successful secondary school in Exeter is looking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to support its thriving Science department. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with excellent practical skills who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure engaging, safe and high-quality practical science lessons are delivered across the school.
Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare practical resources, maintain laboratories and support the delivery of Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons. This is a varied and rewarding role where your contribution will have a direct impact on students' learning experiences.
The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative Science faculty that values practical learning, innovation and continuous improvement.

Science Department
The Science department delivers Biology, Chemistry and Physics across KS3, KS4 and KS5 and places practical investigation at the centre of learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing practical equipment and materials for lessons.
Setting up Biology, Chemistry and Physics experiments.
Preparing chemical solutions safely.
Maintaining laboratory equipment.
Ordering and monitoring departmental stock.
Ensuring laboratories comply with health and safety regulations.
Supporting teachers during practical lessons.
Maintaining chemical inventories.
Safely disposing of laboratory waste.
Preparing resources for GCSE and A-Level practical work.
Supporting STEM enrichment activities.
Keeping laboratories clean, organised and fully equipped.
The successful candidate will join an experienced department where organisation, teamwork and practical excellence are central to delivering outstanding Science education.
Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience is desirable.
Knowledge of laboratory health and safety.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong practical ability.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good IT skills.
Commitment to safeguarding.
Positive and proactive approach.
