A welcoming primary school in Colchester is looking to appoint a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its experienced pastoral and administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving pupil attendance and enjoys working closely with families, staff and external agencies to ensure every child receives the best possible educational opportunities.
Working alongside the Headteacher, Inclusion Lead and wider pastoral team, you will oversee the school's attendance procedures, monitor attendance trends and coordinate interventions that support pupils with attendance concerns. The successful candidate will become an important part of the school's safeguarding and pastoral provision while ensuring attendance records remain accurate and compliant with statutory guidance.
This role would suit someone with excellent communication skills who enjoys building positive relationships and making a meaningful difference to children's educational experiences.

Attendance Team
The Attendance Team works proactively to promote excellent attendance while providing support to pupils and families where barriers to education arise.
Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
Contacting parents regarding unexplained absences.
Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
Producing attendance reports for senior leaders.
Identifying attendance patterns and implementing intervention strategies.
Meeting with parents to discuss attendance concerns.
Liaising with external agencies and the Local Authority Attendance Service.
Supporting safeguarding and pastoral colleagues.
Promoting attendance initiatives across the school.
Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance guidance.
Maintaining confidential pupil information.
Providing administrative support during busy periods.
The successful candidate will become an important member of the school's pastoral support team, helping to ensure every child attends school regularly and achieves their full potential.
Requirements
Previous attendance or school administration experience is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience using school MIS systems is advantageous.
High attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
