A successful secondary school in Shrewsbury is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to join its thriving Science department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical skills who enjoys supporting high-quality science education and helping students experience engaging, hands-on practical lessons.
Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare laboratories, organise equipment and resources and ensure practical lessons are delivered safely and efficiently. You will play an essential role in supporting Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons while maintaining high standards of organisation and laboratory safety.
The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative department where practical learning, scientific enquiry and student achievement are central to the curriculum.

Science Department
The Science department delivers an engaging curriculum across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, encouraging students to develop curiosity through practical investigation and experimentation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing equipment and materials for Science lessons.
Setting up practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Preparing chemical solutions safely and accurately.
Maintaining laboratory equipment and apparatus.
Ordering and monitoring laboratory stock.
Ensuring laboratories comply with health and safety regulations.
Supporting teachers during practical lessons where appropriate.
Maintaining chemical inventories and storage systems.
Safely disposing of laboratory waste.
Preparing practical resources for GCSE and A-Level lessons.
Supporting Science enrichment events and STEM activities.
Keeping laboratories clean, organised and fully equipped.
The successful candidate will become an important member of a supportive Science department committed to delivering outstanding practical learning experiences.
Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience is desirable.
Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong practical ability.
