A creative and ambitious secondary school on the Wirral is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Art Technician to support its successful Art department. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent practical skills who enjoys working within a creative environment while helping students produce high-quality artwork across a wide range of disciplines.
Working closely with the Head of Art and teaching staff, you will prepare materials, maintain specialist equipment and ensure practical lessons run efficiently. You will play an important role in supporting creative teaching while helping maintain an organised, inspiring and safe learning environment for students.
This role would suit someone with previous experience in an Art department, workshop or creative setting who enjoys working collaboratively and supporting young people's artistic development.

Art Department
The Art department provides students with opportunities to develop skills across drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking and mixed media. As Art Technician, you will ensure practical lessons are fully prepared while maintaining high standards across the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing materials and equipment for Art lessons.
Organising paints, clay, printing equipment and specialist resources.
Maintaining studios, preparation rooms and storage areas.
Ordering and monitoring departmental stock.
Maintaining specialist equipment and tools.
Supporting teachers during practical lessons where appropriate.
Displaying students' artwork around the school.
Preparing resources for GCSE and A-Level coursework.
Supporting exhibitions and creative enrichment events.
Maintaining health and safety procedures within practical classrooms.
Keeping departmental inventories accurate and up to date.
Helping create an organised, creative and inspiring learning environment.
The successful candidate will become an important member of the Art department, helping students and teachers make the most of the school's excellent creative facilities.
Requirements
Previous experience in an Art department or creative environment is desirable.
Good practical and creative skills.
Excellent organisational abilities.
Knowledge of a wide range of artistic materials and techniques.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Understanding of health and safety within practical classrooms.
Positive and proactive approach.
