A welcoming primary school in Chester is looking to appoint a committed and proactive Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the importance of good attendance in helping children achieve their full potential and enjoys working collaboratively with families to improve attendance and punctuality.
Working closely with the Headteacher, Inclusion Lead and school office, you will monitor attendance, identify emerging concerns and work proactively with parents and external agencies to ensure pupils attend school regularly. The successful candidate will be highly organised, approachable and committed to supporting children and families.

Attendance Team
The Attendance Team works closely with families, school leaders and external agencies to promote excellent attendance while supporting pupils who require additional guidance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
Contacting parents regarding unexplained absences.
Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
Producing attendance reports for senior leaders.
Identifying attendance trends and supporting intervention strategies.
Meeting with parents to discuss attendance concerns.
Liaising with the Local Authority Attendance Service.
Supporting safeguarding and pastoral colleagues.
Promoting positive attendance initiatives across the school.
Ensuring attendance procedures comply with statutory guidance.
Maintaining confidential pupil records.
Providing administrative support during busy periods.

Requirements
Previous attendance or school administration experience is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience using school MIS systems is advantageous.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Professional and compassionate approach.
