The Role
A thriving Secondary School in Reading is seeking a professional, highly creative, and exceptionally organised Art & Design Teacher to join their prominent Visual Arts faculty. This position is a fantastic opportunity for an educator who excels at fostering traditional fine art skills, mixed-media composition, and critical art history research within a deeply supportive school environment.
The successful candidate will deliver a dynamic and challenging timetable across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Your duties will involve instructing students in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture at GCSE, alongside advanced thematic portfolios, critical contextual writing, and specialized digital media projects for A-Level exam cohorts. You will also take responsibility for managing studio material inventories, keeping detailed student progress records, and actively coordinating local gallery excursions and end-of-year public art exhibitions.
You will support students in developing their unique artistic voices while maintaining high standards of studio organization and physical safety. Strong organizational skills are crucial to balancing hands-on studio guidance with the rigorous coursework moderation cycles.

Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a degree in Fine Art, Visual Communication, or a closely related creative discipline
Previous experience delivering Art & Design specifications up to GCSE and A-Level with strong academic results
Strong data literacy and IT skills, with complete confidence using digital art logs and tracking platforms
Professional and proactive approach to monitoring student metrics and managing active studio spaces safely
Ability to work effectively and adaptably within a fast-paced, high-achieving faculty
