The Role
A premier Secondary Academy in Bristol is seeking a professional, technologically minded, and highly structured Design & Technology Teacher to join their expanding Design and Engineering department. This position offers a brilliant opportunity to teach inside newly upgraded workshops featuring industrial 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and traditional timber/metal fabrication benches.
The successful candidate will deliver a dynamic practical and theoretical curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. You will guide students through the complexities of material properties, CAD/CAM design workflows, structural engineering, and design portfolio construction up to GCSE and A-Level specifications. Key operational duties include maintaining meticulous safety logs, monitoring workshop material stocks, updating student progress records, and ensuring the absolute safety of all active workshop spaces in strict accordance with DATA safety guidelines.
You will maintain an active, safe, and highly productive studio and workshop environment where students treat advanced machinery with respect. Exceptional organizational skills and a proactive approach to student safety are vital to managing busy practical cycles.

Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a specialization in Design & Technology, Product Design, or a related engineering discipline
Proven experience teaching DT specifications up to GCSE and A-Level
In-depth knowledge of workshop health and safety legislation (DATA certification is highly desirable)
Strong IT literacy, with advanced competency using CAD/CAM design software
Excellent classroom management and a highly structured approach to student workshop safety
