Drama Teacher Role in a Creative Independent School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Drama across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ performance skills, creativity, and confidence.
Students explore a range of dramatic styles, practitioners, performance techniques, and theatrical texts. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations while encouraging creativity, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation of theatre.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through school productions, theatre visits, drama clubs, workshops, and enrichment activities that allow students to develop their skills beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Drama across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Drama examinations
Develop students’ performance, creativity, and confidence
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support productions, workshops, and extracurricular activities
Encourage a passion for theatre and the performing arts

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Drama at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Drama and Performing Arts
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Drama
Experience directing school productions
Knowledge of different theatrical practitioners and performance styles
A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
