A welcoming primary school in Ipswich is seeking a dedicated and highly organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving attendance, building positive relationships with families and ensuring every child has the best opportunity to succeed through regular school attendance.
Working closely with the Headteacher, Inclusion Lead and wider pastoral team, you will monitor attendance, identify emerging concerns and work proactively with pupils and families to improve attendance and punctuality. You will play a key role in supporting the school's safeguarding and pastoral provision while maintaining accurate attendance records and ensuring statutory guidance is followed.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills and a genuine commitment to supporting children and families.

Attendance Team
The Attendance Team works closely with school leaders, families and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and remove barriers that may prevent children from attending school regularly.
Your responsibilities will include:
Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
Contacting parents regarding unexplained absences.
Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
Producing weekly and monthly attendance reports.
Identifying attendance patterns and trends.
Supporting attendance intervention programmes.
Meeting with parents to discuss attendance concerns.
Liaising with the Local Authority Attendance Service.
Supporting safeguarding and pastoral colleagues.
Ensuring attendance procedures comply with statutory guidance.
Maintaining confidential pupil records.
Providing administrative support during busy periods.
The successful candidate will become an integral member of the school's pastoral support team, helping to ensure every child attends school regularly and is able to reach their full potential.
Requirements
Previous attendance or school administration experience is desirable.
Excellent organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience using school MIS systems is advantageous.
High attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Positive and professional approach.
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
