A forward-thinking secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced and highly organised Data Manager to oversee the school's data systems and provide accurate, timely information that supports teaching, learning and whole-school improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, analysing trends and supporting strategic decision-making within a busy school environment.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Department and the Examinations Officer, you will ensure the school's Management Information System is maintained to the highest standard while producing reports that support student progress, attendance and attainment.
The successful candidate will be analytical, proactive and confident working with large datasets while maintaining complete accuracy and confidentiality.

Data Team
The Data Team is responsible for ensuring the school maintains accurate student information while providing meaningful reports that inform teaching, assessment and strategic planning.
As Data Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Managing the school's Management Information System.
Producing assessment, attendance and progress reports.
Maintaining accurate student records.
Coordinating statutory census returns.
Supporting timetable and curriculum planning.
Working alongside the Examinations Officer.
Producing reports for governors and senior leaders.
Monitoring data quality and accuracy across school systems.
Ensuring GDPR compliance and secure data management.
Supporting staff with MIS training and technical queries.
Developing efficient reporting systems and processes.
Identifying opportunities to improve data management across the school.
The successful candidate will become an integral member of the leadership support team, helping ensure school leaders have access to accurate information that supports outstanding student outcomes.
Requirements
Previous experience as a Data Manager or similar role.
Strong knowledge of school Management Information Systems.
Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
High attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
