Facilities Assistant – Renowned Secondary School in Poole
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (Shift-Pattern Framework)
Salary: Paid to scale (Support Staff Framework)
The Role
A renowned Secondary School in Poole is seeking a professional, reliable, and highly motivated Facilities Assistant to join their dedicated site support team. This hands-on, vital operational support role directly impacts the daily running, cleanliness, and layout security of the school estate, representing an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician or maintenance professional looking for a stable and supportive role within a collaborative public-sector framework.
The successful candidate will work as part of a structured team operating on a rotating shift pattern to cover the opening and closing parameters of the school site. Daily responsibilities include executing general building maintenance tasks (such as minor glazing adjustments, basic plumbing fixes, painting, and furniture repairs), conducting routine statutory safety sweeps (including fire alarm sound logs, playground equipment integrity checks, and exit lane audits), and keeping the campus hazard-free. You will also take operational responsibility for the daily setup of examination halls, sports facilities, and community letting venues, alongside updating facilities requests and asset logs via the school’s digital management portal.
You will maintain an approachable, professional presence on-site, serving as a primary link with teaching staff, students, and external visitors. Outstanding time management and a proactive approach to safety are essential, as you will balance urgent repair requests with regular statutory checks, including emergency lighting logs and fire door integrity audits.
