Geography Teacher Role in a Rural Secondary School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Geography across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and geographical enquiry.
Students study a broad curriculum covering physical geography, human geography, climate change, ecosystems, global development, urbanisation, sustainability, and geographical skills. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Geography examinations while developing their analytical thinking, research, and fieldwork abilities.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through educational visits, fieldwork, geography clubs, environmental initiatives, and enrichment activities that help students apply their learning to real-world contexts.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Geography across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Geography examinations
Develop students' geographical enquiry, research, and analytical skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support fieldwork, enrichment activities, and educational visits
Promote environmental awareness and global citizenship

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Geography at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for Geography
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Geography
Experience organising fieldwork and educational visits
Ability to contribute to environmental or sustainability initiatives
A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
