Maths Teacher Role in a Sixth Form College

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Mathematics at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons that inspire students to develop advanced mathematical skills and confidence.

Students study a rigorous curriculum covering algebra, calculus, statistics, mechanics, and mathematical reasoning. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations while encouraging problem-solving, logical thinking, and independent study skills.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through maths enrichment sessions, university preparation, competitions, extension programmes, and activities that encourage students to explore mathematics beyond the curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach Mathematics across KS4 and KS5

• Deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons

• Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations

• Develop students’ analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

• Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback

• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification

• Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary or post-16 level

• Ability to teach GCSE and A-Level Mathematics confidently

• Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

• Excellent communication and classroom management skills

Desirable

• Experience teaching Further Mathematics

• Experience supporting university applications or academic enrichment

• Ability to inspire high-achieving students

• A proven track record of delivering excellent student outcomes
