French Teacher Role in an Independent School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
Students follow a broad curriculum that explores French language, literature, culture, and global perspectives. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations while encouraging confidence, fluency, and a deeper appreciation of Francophone cultures.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through language clubs, trips abroad, cultural events, exchange opportunities, and enrichment activities that inspire students beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging and challenging language lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations
Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support language trips, clubs, and cultural enrichment activities
Encourage enthusiasm and confidence in language learning

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching French at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge and excellent communication skills
Ability to inspire students of all abilities
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level French
Experience organising language trips or cultural activities
Ability to teach another Modern Foreign Language
A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
