A successful secondary school in Preston is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Science Technician to join its well-established Science department. Science Department
The Science department is one of the largest and most successful departments within the school, delivering Biology, Chemistry and Physics across all key stages. Practical investigations form an important part of the curriculum, helping students apply theoretical knowledge through hands-on experimentation.
As Science Technician, you will provide practical and technical support to teachers while ensuring laboratories remain safe, organised and fully equipped.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing equipment and chemicals for practical Science lessons.
Setting up laboratory experiments across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
Cleaning, maintaining and storing laboratory equipment safely.
Managing stock levels and ordering consumables.
Preparing practical examination materials.
Ensuring compliance with laboratory health and safety procedures.
Supporting teachers during practical demonstrations where appropriate.
Maintaining accurate chemical inventories.
Disposing of laboratory waste safely and responsibly.
Carrying out routine equipment maintenance and reporting faults.
Supporting STEM events, science clubs and enrichment activities.
Helping maintain an organised, safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Requirements
Previous laboratory or Science Technician experience is desirable.
Good understanding of laboratory health and safety.
Excellent organisational skills.

Positive and proactive attitude.
