A well-respected secondary school in Medway is seeking a caring, calm and highly organised Medical and Welfare Officer to join its pastoral support team. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operation of the school's medical room, providing first aid and welfare support while working closely with parents, teaching staff and external healthcare professionals. You will also play an important role in supporting students with medical needs, maintaining accurate records and ensuring healthcare plans are implemented effectively.

Student Welfare Team
The Student Welfare Team works closely with pastoral leaders, safeguarding staff and families to promote the health, wellbeing and personal development of every student. As Medical and Welfare Officer, you will play a central role in ensuring students receive appropriate care throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing first aid and immediate medical assistance to students and staff.
Managing the daily operation of the school's medical room.
Maintaining confidential medical records and healthcare plans.
Administering medication in accordance with school policies.
Liaising with parents regarding medical and welfare matters.
Supporting students with long-term medical conditions.
Monitoring medical supplies and first aid equipment.
Recording accidents and preparing incident reports.
Working closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams.
Supporting student wellbeing initiatives across the school.
Coordinating relevant healthcare training where appropriate.
Ensuring medical procedures comply with current guidance and school policies.

Requirements
Previous experience in a medical, healthcare or welfare role is desirable.
Valid First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Good IT skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
