Working closely with teaching staff, curriculum leaders and senior leaders, you will oversee the day-to-day management of the library while creating an engaging learning environment that supports both academic study and reading for pleasure. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting literacy initiatives and ensuring students have access to high-quality learning resources throughout the school year.

Library Team
The library is a vibrant learning space that supports students across every curriculum area. As School Librarian, you will manage the library service while encouraging students to develop strong reading habits and independent research skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the daily operation of the school library.
Maintaining and developing the library collection.
Promoting reading across the school through events and initiatives.
Supporting students with research and independent study.
Managing the library management system.
Processing new books and digital learning resources.
Organising author visits, book fairs and literacy events.
Creating engaging book displays and reading promotions.
Supporting curriculum departments with resource requests.
Supervising students using the library throughout the day.
Managing the library budget and ordering resources.
Maintaining accurate records of stock and borrowing activity.
The successful candidate will become an important part of the wider school community, helping to create a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to read widely, think independently and develop a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
Requirements
Previous experience working within a library, school or educational setting is desirable.
Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
Passion for literacy and reading.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Good IT skills and experience using library management systems is advantageous.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
