A welcoming secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced and compassionate Pastoral Manager to join its dedicated pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, building positive relationships and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Working closely with Heads of Year, senior leaders, safeguarding staff and families, you will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development. The successful candidate will become a trusted point of contact for students, providing guidance, encouragement and practical support while ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed.

Pastoral Team

As Pastoral Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the wellbeing and personal development of students.
Working closely with Heads of Year to promote positive behaviour.
Meeting with students to provide mentoring and pastoral guidance.
Building positive relationships with parents and carers.
Supporting attendance and punctuality initiatives.
Assisting with behaviour management and restorative conversations.
Liaising with safeguarding staff and external agencies where appropriate.
Monitoring student progress and identifying those requiring additional support.
Supporting transition arrangements for new students.
Maintaining accurate pastoral records and documentation.
Contributing to student intervention programmes.
Promoting the school's values and expectations throughout the school community.

Requirements
Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour or student support role is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with young people.

Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion.
Good IT skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.
