Science Technician
A successful Secondary School in Swindon is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Science Technician to join its well-established Science department on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for practical science who enjoys working behind the scenes to support outstanding teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a vital role in preparing practical experiments and ensuring laboratories remain safe, organised and fully equipped throughout the school year.
Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare chemicals, equipment and practical resources for Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5. You will ensure laboratories are fully prepared before each lesson, allowing teachers to deliver engaging practical sessions that inspire students to develop a lifelong interest in science.
Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, monitoring stock levels, ordering resources, maintaining COSHH documentation, ensuring chemicals are stored safely and carrying out routine health and safety inspections. You will also support practical assessments, science enrichment activities, STEM events, open evenings and departmental projects throughout the academic year.
The successful candidate will possess excellent organisational skills, strong practical knowledge and a proactive approach to supporting teachers while maintaining the highest standards of laboratory safety and organisation.

Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience desirable
Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
Excellent organisational skills
Strong practical science knowledge
Ability to prepare and maintain specialist equipment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to supporting outstanding science education
