A welcoming Primary School in Birmingham is seeking a dependable and hardworking Caretaker to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, practical role and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure learning environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the school site is maintained to a consistently high standard, providing an environment where pupils and staff can thrive.
Working closely with the Headteacher and School Business Manager, you will be responsible for opening and securing the school each day, carrying out regular site inspections and responding promptly to maintenance requests. You will complete minor repairs, monitor classrooms and communal areas and ensure the school's buildings remain safe, welcoming and fully operational.
The role includes maintaining external grounds, assisting with planned preventative maintenance, supervising contractors, preparing rooms for assemblies, parents' evenings, school performances and community events, as well as supporting furniture moves and deliveries throughout the school year.
Health and safety is central to the position, and you will be responsible for carrying out routine compliance checks, monitoring fire safety equipment, reporting maintenance issues and ensuring all work complies with current legislation and school policies.
The successful candidate will possess excellent practical skills, strong organisational abilities and a proactive approach to maintaining high standards across the entire school site.

Requirements
Previous caretaking, maintenance or facilities experience desirable
Good practical maintenance and repair skills
Knowledge of health and safety procedures
Excellent organisational skills
