Maths Teacher Role in a Grammar School
A high-achieving Grammar School in Southampton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering challenging and well-structured lessons that develop deep mathematical understanding, problem-solving ability, and analytical thinking.
Students follow a fast-paced and demanding curriculum covering algebra, geometry, number, statistics, and advanced mathematical concepts, with many progressing to Further Mathematics at A-Level. You will play a key role in stretching high-attaining learners and preparing them for competitive university pathways.
You will also contribute to extension activities including maths challenges, Olympiad preparation, STEM enrichment, and academic mentoring programmes.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver high-quality, academically rigorous lessons
Prepare students for GCSE, A-Level, and Further Mathematics
Develop problem-solving, reasoning, and mathematical fluency
Assess progress and provide detailed academic feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support enrichment, extension, and Olympiad programmes
Maintain high expectations for all learners

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Excellent classroom management skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level and Further Mathematics
Experience working with high-achieving or selective cohorts
Ability to support enrichment and academic extension
A strong track record of student attainment
