Maths Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School
An Outstanding Secondary School in Reading is seeking to appoint an ambitious and dedicated Maths Teacher to join its highly successful Mathematics department from September. About the Role
The successful candidate will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Students follow a carefully sequenced curriculum covering number, algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and mathematical modelling, with many progressing to study A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations while encouraging them to develop confidence in applying mathematical concepts to real-world problems.
You will also contribute to curriculum development, intervention strategies, STEM enrichment activities, mathematics competitions, university preparation sessions, and wider enrichment opportunities that promote a love of the subject.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Mathematics across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Mathematics examinations
Develop students’ reasoning, fluency, and problem-solving skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support STEM initiatives, enrichment activities, and intervention programmes
Foster confidence and a lifelong appreciation of mathematics

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level and Further Mathematics
Experience contributing to STEM or mathematics enrichment
Ability to support intervention programmes to raise attainment
A proven track record of strong student outcomes
