French Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

About the Role
The successful candidate will teach French across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons that develop students’ fluency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Students study a broad curriculum covering grammar, vocabulary, translation skills, and cultural topics relating to French-speaking countries. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations while encouraging them to communicate confidently and apply their language skills in real-world contexts.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through language clubs, cultural enrichment activities, educational visits, exchange opportunities, and events that promote enthusiasm for languages across the school.
Key Responsibilities
Teach French across KS3, KS4, and KS5
Deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level French examinations
Develop students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support language enrichment activities, trips, and exchanges
Foster a lifelong enthusiasm for languages and global culture

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching French at secondary level
Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently
Strong subject knowledge of French language and culture
Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level French
Ability to teach a second language such as Spanish or German
Experience contributing to language enrichment activities or exchanges
A proven track record of strong student outcomes
