Attendance Officer
A successful Secondary School in Preston is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about improving attendance and supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school while building positive relationships with students, families and staff.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Year and safeguarding staff, you will monitor daily attendance, complete first-day absence procedures and ensure attendance records are accurate and up to date. You will identify attendance concerns at an early stage, analyse attendance data and implement targeted interventions to improve attendance across all year groups.
The role includes communicating regularly with parents and carers, organising attendance meetings, preparing attendance reports for senior leaders and governors and supporting statutory attendance processes. You will work alongside external agencies where appropriate to ensure barriers to attendance are addressed effectively and sensitively.
You will also support wider pastoral initiatives, contribute to safeguarding procedures and help foster a culture where excellent attendance is recognised and celebrated throughout the school community.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities and the confidence to work independently while maintaining a supportive and professional approach.

Requirements
Previous attendance, pastoral or school administration experience desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational abilities
Experience analysing attendance data
Good IT skills and experience using Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom desirable
Professional and confidential approach
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting excellent attendance
