Science Technician
A successful Secondary School in Maidstone is seeking a dedicated and organised Science Technician to join its thriving Science department on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical science and is passionate about supporting outstanding teaching and learning. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring practical lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics are prepared safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will prepare practical experiments, chemicals, apparatus and specialist equipment for KS3, KS4 and KS5 lessons. You will ensure laboratories remain organised, fully stocked and compliant with all health and safety regulations, enabling teachers to deliver engaging practical lessons every day.
Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, carrying out regular safety inspections, monitoring stock levels, ordering resources, maintaining COSHH records and ensuring chemicals are stored and disposed of correctly. You will also prepare specialist equipment for demonstrations, practical assessments and examination coursework.
The role offers the opportunity to support STEM enrichment activities, science clubs, open evenings and whole-school events, helping to inspire students to develop a lifelong interest in science.
The successful candidate will possess strong organisational skills, excellent practical knowledge and the ability to work collaboratively within a busy department while maintaining consistently high standards.

Requirements
Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience desirable
Good knowledge of laboratory health and safety procedures
Excellent organisational skills
Strong practical science knowledge
Ability to prepare and maintain specialist equipment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to supporting outstanding science education
